A 72-year-old man from Gharb appeared in the Gozo Court today charged with importing explosives.

He was charged with the importation, then transporting and storing the gunpowder or explosives, without the necessary permission of the Police Commissioner.

The man was also charged with being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges and was placed under house arrest against a deposit of €1,500 and personal guarantee of €10,000.
