A scheme has been launched in Gozo for young people to have an opportunity to experience the world of work with private entities and non-governmental organisations this summer.

The announcement was made today by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana.

The Work Trial Scheme for Youths aims to introduce young people between the ages of 16 and 20, and students attending courses in various academic entities, into the world of work and also help them choose their prospective career, as well as gain necessary experience for their future.

Minister Justyne Caruana said that the Government is investing heavily in our youth, saying that this is a good way of being able to assist in this critical phase of career path selection.

The Minister went on to explain that students can work both with private, as well as with voluntary organisations, thus increasing the value of work, as well as that of respect and solidarity.

Through this scheme, students will earn €75 per week, with a total of €375 for five weeks.

The scheme starts on the 7th of August and runs until the 7th of September, and applications will be open as from Monday, the 10th of July to the 14th of July.
