Police have said that an 89-year-old man died this morning after he was found unconscious in the water by swimmers in Marsalforn Bay. He was brought ashore and given first aid until an ambulance arrived on site.

In a statement, Gozo Police said that the elderly man, who was from St’ Paul’s Bay, was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, but he sadly later died.

Police said that they were informed about the incident at about 11.45am. A Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed into the case, whilst the Police are investigating are ongoing.
