The Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, has visited the Ta’ Xhajma horse race track and its facilities.

She explained that the purpose of this visit was to assess the current situation and discuss what works are needed to be carried out.

While viewing the facilities presently on offer, the Minister stated that with serious planning and more resources, what the track could potentially offer would not only be enjoyed by horse racing enthusiasts, but also by the Gozitan sporting public.

“It is unfortunate that over the years, this course has not been given the attention it deserves,” said Dr Caruana.
Minister Caruana paid tribute to workers who are assigned to Ta’ Xhajma and thanked them for the valuable work they are doing.

Dr Caruana said that “the Ministry is committed to exploit the maximum potential that this track can offer” and promised her “support and commitment in achieving this goal.”

She also suggested that more talks, as well as consultation meetings should be held, to see how the track should be developed in the future for the benefit of everyone.

Ta’ Xhajma racetrack was built in the mid-eighties and is about 1,000 metres in length. It is managed by the Gozo Horse Racing Association.
