Another European Bee-eater has been shot, the protected bird, found this morning, had shotgun injuries to its wing and body.
It was picked up by some people who were walking at Dwejra and then retrieved by BirdLife Malta. “This is the second known victim of this year’s autumn hunting season,” the NGO said.
It added, that “sadly, unlike yesterday’s case, this Bee-eater had to be euthanised since the vet established that there is absolutely no way it could fly again due to the injuries it sustained.”
