Kaccaturi San Ubertu (KSU) in a statement today, has said that it has been advised that the Wild Birds Regulations Unit (WBRU) is being officially instructed to stop participating in the KSU project Aggornat.

The project is co-financed by the Conservation of Wild Birds Fund 2017 falling under the Ministry for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change (MESDC).

KSU said that the project is made up of a series of 24 talks around Malta and Gozo, where spokespersons from the WBRU, The Police Force, The Environment Resources Authority and other entities are to give talks to the general public, hunters and trappers about the environment, birds, security, hunting and trapping.

It added that in the first four lectures, the WBRU were going to give a presentation about the role of their unit.

KSU in its statement said that “in a project praised and rewarded by MESDC, the participation of the unit falling within the same ministry that administers and regulates hunting and trapping, WBRU, not withstanding their acceptance to participate, were now compelled to withdraw.”

The KSU has requested an official explanation for this decision, and advised that the other lectures will take place as planned.
