Victory Square in the hilltop village of Xaghra rocked the night away last night, with Hilltop Rock as part of programme of events for this weekend’s Xaghra Fig Festival.

Xaghra Local Council and community is celebrating figs and culinary talent – combined with musical entertainment for everyone.This ninth edition is taking place as part of Ficusnet, a European network of fig-producing towns and villages.

The main square of the village was packed to overflowing last night as visitors, both local and tourists enjoyed entertainment of rock classics performed by Cash & Band, Chris Grech, Cheryl Balzan, Kevin McGowan, Chris Portelli, Joseph C Portelli and Edwin Magro.The Xaghra Fig Festival continues this evening with – Lejla Tina from 6pm onwards with entertainment for all the family – featuring Pierre Cordina, Ta Verna Folk Band, MAE Band and Dash of Goodness who will be providing tips and more on making the most out of local seasonal produce in culinary and beauty use.To keep up to date with all the events, please follow the Xaghra Fig Festival facebook page
