The Bank of Valletta’s calendar, featuring the collection of newly-restored Ta’ Pinu paintings by Emvin Cremona, was presented to HE Archbishop Paul Cremona by Charles Borg, Chief Officer, Financial Markets and Investments at Bank of Valletta, during a recent courtesy visit to the Curia. Mr. Borg was accompanied by Edward Muscat Azzopardi, the Bank’s Head of Marketing and Charles Azzopardi, Manager Marketing and Communications.

During the courtesy visit, Charles Borg explained to the Archbishop how the 20 original works by the late Maltese artist Emvin Cremona were discovered following years of decay in a damp wall cabinet inside the Ta’ Pinu Basilica in Gozo.

The discovery of these masterpieces generated sufficient interest for a full restoration to be commissioned and it was here that Bank of Valletta, as a leading patron of arts and culture, decided to finance the restoration of these works. This calendar can be truly described as a delightful celebration of the Life of the Blessed Virgin.

Well done to BOV for financing the restoration of the Ta’ Pinu paintings and the production of the calendar to mark the event.

I think it would be appropriate that a presentation be also made to His Lordship the Bishop of Gozo since Ta’ Pinu is in the Gozo Diocese, unless it has already been made.
