Maltapost commemorates 50th Anniversary of the death of Padre Pio

A miniature sheet bearing a new stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary from the death of Padre Pio, will be issued by MaltaPost this Saturday.

A painting of the Saint by the Maltese Capuchin monk Patri Krispin Tabone found at the church of Santa Liberata in Kalkara is featured on the stamp, which carries a face value of €3.00.

MaltaPost said that it will also issued a Limited Edition Silver Replica Stamp depicting the same image of the stamp.

This is struck in 999.0 silver and its issue is limited to a maximum of 750 pieces. It will be offered in a presentation box together with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.

There will be 20,000 miniature sheets issued, the stamp measures 44.0mm x 31.0mm with a perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 (comb), while the miniature sheet itself measures 120mm x 80mm and was designed by MaltaPost and offset printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper by Printex Limited.
