During August, Air Malta said that it registered a 35 percent increase in passengers on its Malta based routes compared to last year and carried a total of 244,799 passengers to and from Malta.

The airline in a statement, said that in addition it carried almost 11,000 passengers on `5th Freedom, routes – namely Catania – Vienna, Catania – London Southend and Cagliari – London Southend routes.

The news was welcomed by the airline and the Ministry for Tourism.
