Arnold Cassola and Mary Anne Zammit, on behalf of Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party, have signed the European Women’s Lobby petition 50/50 Campaign: No Modern European Democracy without Gender Equality! This campaign promotes equal gender representation in all European Union democratic institutions.

Mary Anne Zammit, Alternattiva Demokratika Spokesperson for Social Protection & Health, pointed out that AD will be also fielding a gender-balanced 13-strong delegation for the March European Green Party Congress being held in Brussels.

Yvonne Ebejer Arqueros, AD Spokesperson for Civil Rights and MEP candidate said, “This is the first time in Maltese electoral history that a political party is fielding a gender-balanced list for the coming elections. Albeit small, this is a first step towards a new chapter in gender equality, and proof of AD’s consistency with regards the promotion of womens’ rights and gender awareness.”
