Gozitan baritone Charles Buttigieg performed a solo Christmas Concert at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz on Friday evening in front of a packed audience.
19-year old Buttigieg entertained those present with a wonderful repertoire for the festive concert, accompanied on the piano by Mro Dr John Galea.
Present for the concert was the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, accompanied by her husband Silvio Valletta. Dr Caruana congratulated Charles on the “superb concert, you make Gozo proud.” The Minister also congratulated the performance of Maestro Dr John Galea.
It was the young baritones first public performance on home soil since being admitted into the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, US. Tenor Joseph Calleja has described the young baritone as a “rare talent.”
The Curtis Institute of Music is one of the most selective schools in the US, accepting just four per cent of applicants each year through its scholarship-only policy, which ensures that talent and artistic promise are the only considerations for admission.
Charles’s Christmas Concert, was organised by the JP2 Foundation of Gozo.
