The official launch of this year’s seventh edition of the Gozo Ceramics Festival has been announced by the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana.

The festival, taking place this coming Saturday, the 3rd of August, will once again be held in the beautiful setting of Xlendi Bay.

Dr Caruana expressed her satisfaction that this popular festival has well and truly established itself on Gozo’s cultural calendar.

It promises visitors a night filled with ceramics, art, music and entertainment, with ceramic artists, both local and international, as well as skilled craftsmen who will be demonstrating their talents and skills in public, including sculpting, hand modelling and throwing on the potter’s wheel.

Other attractions include live fire juggling shows, live firing of ceramic pieces and musical entertainment during the evening.

There will also be a hands-on area for children to get their hands dirty, this is always one of the popular spots for families!

The Minister for Gozo said that this is another activity that will be an added attraction to further strengthen internal tourism, encouraging more locals and tourists to spend a weekend in Gozo.

Dr Caruana thanked the Munxar Council, ceramicist Joan Haber and all those who have contributed to once again ensure the success of the Ceramics Festival.

The Xlendi Administrative Committee will also be illuminating the area with the magical fjakkolata, when hundreds of candles will be lit around the bay and on private balconies.

The Festival is held in collaboration with the Munxar Local Council and the Culture Office within the Ministry for Gozo.

Entrance is free and everyone in invited to attend, on Saturday, the 3rd of August, from 7.30pm onwards.
