The police have announced that nine Maltese persons will make an appearance in court with regard to offences that they say took place on the weekend of the Nadur Carnival.
The police referred to the statement issued today by the bishops regarding the conduct of certain people at the carnival, and said that the nine who are to be arraigned are aged between 20 and 35.
According to the Maltese criminal code, “every person is guilty of a contravention against public order who without permission, or against the prohibition of the respective authorities, wears any civil, naval, military or air force uniform, or any ecclesiastical habits or vestments.”
The police statement added that its investigations of abuses which occurred at the Nadur carnival were ongoing.
