Update 1: €5,000,000 was by raised by around 10.30pm this evening, with now just under an hour and a half remaining of the annual charity 12-hour fundraising event, L-Istrina – a feast of generosity and solidarity.

Donations and pledges have been made by phone, SMS and on Facebook, as well as from company donations.

L-Istrina is Malta’s major charity event and belongs to The Malta Community Chest Fund, which is held in both Gozo and Malta on the 26th of December.

Gozo has also been providing entertainment with local talent for L-Istrina, which has been taking place in the parking area next to Arkadia, Victoria, while also collecting funds for the charity event.

In Malta the events got underway from midday at the Hal-Kirkop Sporting Complex, where many celebrities have been joining joining in the festivities.

€7,134,036 – a record – was raised during the 2018 L-Istrina fundraising marathon.
