A 35-year old Gozitan woman died on Saturday morning after finding herself in difficulty whilst diving at Mgarr ix-Xini.
The young woman, has been named locally as Christine Gauci, from Victoria, a soldier in the Armed Forces of Malta.
Police, who were called to the incident at around 10.30am, said that the woman was with a companion on the dive.
Immediately the AFM were informed and took the woman ashore at Mgarr harbour, were she was given assistance by a medical team.
Police said that unfortunately, she was declared dead shortly after.
A magisterial inquiry was appointed and Police investigations are still ongoing.
For one so young to meet a so tragic death is a calamity in itself and for all her family & relative/friends. May God grant her eternal peace in heaven. Condolences to all her family.
