The Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FKNK) in a statement on Sunday, said that it had “not called for the withdrawal of the right of referendum, but for adequate changes to the respective legislation.”
FKNK was reacting to the statement issued by BirdLife Malta who together with 12 other NGOs, had called the hunting lobby’s proposal “undemocratic.”
“Civil Society expressed its sovereign opinion regarding hunting in an abrogative referendum in April 2015, when the FKNK came out as the winners,” the hunting lobby said.
