The beautiful niche of Our Lady of Loreto in Victoria has been fully restored thanks to funds from a Ministry for Gozo restoration scheme for Local Councils.
Situated in Triq Ghajn Qatet, on the entrance to Victoria, this niche is iconic in Gozo, a devotional niche that according to history, has a dedicated feast every year.
It was one of six historic sites selected in 2018 from thirteen submissions. The restored niche has been inaugurated by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, who said that culture and art are at the forefront of the Ministry for Gozo’s agenda.
The Minister also launched this year’s restoration scheme for Local Councils, with a total fund of €80,000, which is an increase of €10,000 on last year.

I am not sure who posted the news on a TVM electronic site, but whoever it was it shows his or her lack of Chotlic knowledge about saints. There is no Saint Loretu as the article headed: Restawrata n-ni??a ta’ San Loretu Imtella’ Marzu 2, 2020.
The newsroom of GOZONEWS shames whoever it was because although they are foreigners they got it right, for it is not Saint Loreto but Our Lady of Loreto the same patron saint in Ghajnsielem Parish Church.
Our Lady of Loreto is so-called because there is a story that the house of Mary the Mother of Jesus was flown by angles from Jerusalem to Loreto a place I personally visited in the Marche northern of Italy. Many Maltese pilgrims as millions of others go to visit as pilgrims to the Basilica of Loreto where inside there is a chapel which is said to be the house transferred by the angles. Saying San Loreto shows how knowledgable is the reporter of the said article showing a photo of the Minister etc.
Loreto is a hill town and comune of the Italian province of Ancona, in the Marche. It is most commonly known as the seat of the Basilica della Santa Casa, a popular Catholic pilgrimage site.
