Prime Minister Robert Abela announced late on Monday night that with immediate effect, all flights between Malta and Italy have been stopped with immediate effect.

He also said that the Sicily catamaran service will not carry passengers, but be used to transport good such as merchandise and medicines.

A cruise liner which was due in to Malta on Tuesday, has been stopped from entering, the Prime Minister said.

He again called for calm, saying that health remains the priority, with everything continuing as usual, a normal work day and school day.
