Supt. of Public Health, Prof Charmaine Gauci in an update on Thursday morning, has said that there are two new positive cases for Covid-19 in Malta, the total is now nine.
The two, a 29-year old man, a foreigner, who had returned from Brussels on the 8th of March, and a 26-year old woman, also a foreigner, who had flown to Berlin, and then travelled by bus to Amsterdam, which is where she returned to Malta from.
However, Prof. Gauci said that they had not self-isolated and had gone to work – in private companies – on their return.
The man had started feeling unwell a day after his return, but went to work, he lives on his own, Prof Gauci said.
The woman had arrived in Berlin on the 4th of march, travelled to Amsterdam by bus, and then on the 6th of March she started feeling unwell, however she stayed in Holland, returning by plane from Amsterdam on the 10th of March. She went to the office for two hours upon her return.
Prof. Gauci said that the woman lives in a shared apartment with three others, and authorities are carrying out checks on them, although she had advised that she had no contact with them.
She explained that authorities are now checking those people that they may have come into contact with, this includes anyone on the same flights.
