ALPA extends its full cooperation to Air Malta in crewing flightsALPA-Malta said that it has extended its full cooperation to Air Malta to help in crewing flights serving High Risk Destinations as categorised by Local and International health authorities.

In a statement it said that, “Air Malta, Local Business Communities and the country at large are going through trying times on an unprecedented level.”

The pilots’ union went on to say that, “notwithstanding, all levels of society must unite to achieve the best possible outcome, for a robust return to normality once this outbreak subsides.”

ALPA said that it has instructed its members “to do their utmost to alleviate the suffering of nationals stranded abroad, and foreigners wishing to return to their loved ones. ”

“This places our Captains and First Officers on the frontline, serving our country’s interests as directed by the Government of Malta and in the best interests of our local community transporting critically essential supplies to Maltese Hospitals,” it said.

The union continued that, “whilst our members appreciate the higher risk of exposure in these circumstances, to their families and themselves, they continue serving selflessly so as to allow the country to achieve the desired results.”

ALPA concluded by thanking other unions and medical staff, who, it said, “relentlessly go about their duties, expediently and whilst demonstrating their untarnished professionalism.”
