Spot-checks continue on quarantined persons, 2 more fined

134 spot-checks on persons in quarantine have been carried out in the past past 24 hours, with another 2 people found to be in breach of quarantine regulations.

They were issued with a summons, fined €1,000 and warned that they must follow quarantine regulations.

The spot-checks were carried out by police officers from the Administrative Law Enforcement Unit, together with officials from the Directorate of Public Health and the Civil Protection Department.

Since the mandatory quarantine started for anyone arriving in Malta, a total of 224 spot-checks have been carried out, with 4 people found to be breaking the law and fined €1,000 each.

Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri stated that spot-checks will continue to be carried out for the sake of national interest and to help combat the spread of Covid-19.
