Supt. of Public Health, Prof Charmaine Gauci, has said that 19 new cases of Covid-19 have been registered. This brings the total number of cases to 129.
In her daily update for Covid-19, Prof Gauci explained that 488 tests have been carried out resulting in these 19 new cases, of which 4 were detected from contact tracing, 7 are by local transmission and 8 were contracted from overseas.
Gauci explained that of the news cases is an 81-year old Maltese man, he is not showing complications so far. As elderly patients are of a higher risk they are being kept in hospital.
Most of the confirmed Covid-19 patients have mild symptoms. The 61-year old man is still in ITU and remains in an unstable condition.
Prof Gauci once again stressed the need for the public listen to the authorities advice and to avoid close contact with others – practice social distancing, as well as stay inside whenever possible.
