Opposition spokes person for Gozo Dr Chris Said, has stated that “we need urgent action to get the ambulance drivers and drivers of other Gozo General Hospital vehicles into a safe area.”

The ambulance garage and offices were lost when building started on the Barts Medical School, since then these drivers have had to use a container located on site, The MP said on social media.

He argued that in these difficult times they have to be inside a confined space together, with very serious consequences.

Dr Said stressed that “these workers are giving a crucial and essential service, so the least the employer can do is to provide decent and spacious premises in which to work,” and called on Health Minister Chris Fearne to find a prompt resolution to the problem.

“I suggest you use a school which is currently closed in order to to have the adequate space,” Dr Said concluded.
