13 new Covid-19 cases registered, with 20 cases in total for Gozo region

Speaking at Thursday’s Covid-19 update, Supt of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci advised that 13 new cases had been reported in the past 24-hours.
There are 4 new cases of migrants at the Hal Far Centre, the remaining 9 were contracted through local transmission.
Contact tracing is being carried out on the new cases. The total number of cases now stands at 412, with 82 recovered.
Prof Gauci said that 1,022 swab tests had been carried out during the past 24-hours, with 21,164 swabs taken in total.On regional statistics, Prof Gauci said that there are 20 cases in Gozo, in Malta, there are 142 in the northern harbour region, 95 in the south east, 64 in the north of Malta, 42 in the south and 39 in the west of the island.
Replying to a question from the media, Prof Gauci said that yesterday’s confirmed case of a hotel worker in Gozo, was a clerk who worked at a hotel that the elderly from Sant Anna Residence are due to be transferred to.
She explained that the hotel was disinfected, with authorities now satisfied that the transfer of the elderly could take place. The young woman worked in an office at the hotel with one other person.
