Malta will join more than 74 countries and territories around the world in an Earth Hour 2009 initiative which will take place this coming Saturday, the 28th of March 2009.

This initiative aims to be a symbolic one and will be for one hour, from 8.30pm until 9.30pm in an endeavor for everyone to be climate-friendly and turn off the lights.

This initiative is designed to create awareness and deliver a message, giving an example of things that can become environmentally friendly.

The Government calls upon everyone to do their part and on Saturday participate with the rest of the world.

The Government will set an example on Saturday and during that hour will extinguish the lights of the Sta Venera Aqueduct and the War Monument in Floriana.
