The Citadel lights together with those illuminating the Banca Giuratale in Victoria Gozo will be switched off for an hour on Saturday evening, so that the island of Gozo will also join more than 74 countries and territories around the world to participate in the symbolic initiative of Earth Hour 2009.

The Ministry for Gozo is supporting this initiative which has the aim to increase awareness about global environment protection. Moreover, it is calling upon the Gozitans to contribute both symbolically on this occasion as well as by adopting good environmental practices throughout the year.

Therefore the illumination of the Citadel and Banca Giuratale in Victoria will be switched off for an hour between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
