2 new Covid-19 cases reported with 4 more people recoveredDuring the update on Wednesday for the current Covid-19 situation, Supt of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci said that 2 new cases had been reported in the past 24-hours, from 1392 tests. Four people have recovered,making 407 in total.

She went on to say that there are 482 cases, 72 cases are currently active, and there have now been 5 deaths. Prof Gauci said that the “situation in Malta is now stable.”

The 2 new cases are a Maltese woman aged 30, who experienced symptoms on the 4th of May, she had not been to work and contact tracing has been done with her family.

The other case is a carer aged 32 and from the Philippines, who was found positive following testing carried out on the ward at Karin Grech where a Covid-19 patient had passed away

Prof Gauci said that she was pleased as to how many members of the public were adhering to the mandatory wearing of masks in shops and on public transport, and went on to appeal to the public to “not put our mothers in danger” this Sunday, and avoid coming together on Mother’s Day.
