Superintendent of Public Health Prof Charmaine Gauci, speaking on Friday said that 1 new case has been reported in the past 24-hours, along with 1 recovery.

Of the 16 cases reported in the past 2 days, there have been 2 from Gozo, a 27-year old female and a 23-year old male, both had experienced symptoms. However 6 of the 16 cases were asymptomatic.

There have been 600 cases in total, 125 cases are currently active, 469 patients have recovered and there has been 6 deaths. There were 1,560 tests taken in the past 24-hours, with the total so far at 57,784.

From the 125 cases, there are 25 in different hospitals, none are in ITU, Prof Gauci said. The remainder are recovering in their homes.

She stressed the virus is still in the community, and measures that have been lifted so far by the authorities take this into account.

The vulnerable are still urged to avoid contact with other people, and only go out when necessary.

Speaking about restaurants that can open today, she said that those which are found to be Covid-19 compliant following an inspection, will be issued with a compliance sticker which can be placed at the front of the establishment.

Prof Gauci’s daily briefings now take place on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, when journalist’s questions will also be taken.

Restaurants, hairdressers and beauty salons are among the establishments that can open to the public from today, but having to follow protocols/mitigation measures.
