For the fourth year running the Work Trial Scheme for Youths has been launched in Gozo. The scheme is open to young students looking for work and aged between 16 and 20.
Launched by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, he explained that eligible participants will be receiving €90 per week, making a total of € 450 for five weeks.
He stated that the aim of this scheme is to give more young Gozitans the opportunity of a job in Gozo itself. In fact, eligible participants, through this scheme can work both with private, as well as with voluntary organisations
He went on to say that the Ministry will be paying employers up to 20 hours a week, then the employer may choose to incentivise these young people and continue to employ or increase their hours.
The Minister said that all those attending an educational institution (secondary school, MCAST, ITS, Junior College, University) are eligible to apply.
He stated that the Work Trial Scheme for Youths will run for five weeks, from Monday, the 3rd of August, to Friday, the 4th of September.
Applications will be open Monday, the 6th of July, and close no later than noon on Friday, the 10th of July 10, applications can also be made online at www.mgoz.gov.mt
Employers must be registered with Jobsplus in order to be eligible to employ Youth Trainee Participants through this scheme, and the job must be on the island of Gozo.
Other Information
Participants must be 16 years of age or older by the time of Sunday, 12th of July 2020; Applicants who are considered as youths and are registering as Part 1 or who are not working may participate in this scheme; In the case of applicants registering as Part 1 with the jobsplus, they must submit a Declaration from the Department of Social Security together with the application; Payment of grants will be made upon receipt of Attendance by the Ministry for Gozo.
The Attendance Schedule shall be sent to the MGOZ at the end of the scheme no later than noon on Friday, the 11th of September 2020.
