Air Malta said it has reviewed and enhanced its operational procedures and upgraded cleaning measures, and had launched new travel policies.

The airline said that it has been working with various authorities and industry partners and has taken all the necessary measures as recommended by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

These changes ensure the highest standards of health and safety, not only onboard its flights, but throughout its customer contact points.

They include that, all travelling customers must fill in a health declaration form prior to checking-in for any Air Malta flight.

The airline said that this form must be presented at the boarding gate either electronically or as a printed copy, prior to boarding the aircraft. Passengers not in possession, may be refused boarding.

All hand baggage must now be checked in free of charge, the airline said. Only laptop bags, hand bags and baby bags are allowed on board. There are no changes to current procedures for pets in cabin and musical instruments.

Customers must ensure they have a sufficient number of face mask/s for the entire journey. Face masks should be changed after 4 hours of use, unless otherwise indicated by the mask manufacturer. Anyone feeling unwell should not travel to the airport.

Cabin crew will wear masks throughout the flights. The airline said that passengers must ensure that face masks are worn at all times except when eating or drinking, or as instructed by crew. Children under 6 and passengers suffering from breathing difficulties are exempt.

No queueing is allowed for the use of toilets. In line with safety recommendations, only the rear aircraft lavatories will be available for use by all passengers.

Pre-packed food and selected drinks will be available for sale on board. Items on sale can be found in the inflight magazine, Il-Bizzilla. Only credit card payments will be accepted.
