The Gozo NGOs Association “vision” for the coming years, is the main topic up for discussion during an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Association called for next Friday, the 31st of July.

Following a restructuring process the Association said that it needs to move forward and plan for the ever-challenging and changing scenario, especially in this post Covid-19 period.

In anticipation of this important discussion, a delegation from the Association’s Council took the opportunity to meet with the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri.

The Association said that this meeting also provided the opportunity for an exchange of ideas with the Minister on how the Ministry for Gozo can continue to assist the Association.

The Association said that since its founding in 2003 it has always received a “good measure of support from the Ministry for Gozo, through the provision of services available at the Gozo NGOs Centre, consequently the Association was able to maintain its operations in aid of the Gozo voluntary sector.”

The meeting provided an opportunity for a discussion about matters of general interest to the organisations active in the Gozo VO/NGO sector, the Association said.

In this regard the Association explained that it is proposing that the NGO Centre in Xewkija, should be turned into a ‘one stop shop’ from where all the services required by the VO/NGO sector could be provided. It also offered its “experience and services” to Ministry officials to see that this proposal could be accomplished.

“This would mean precious time could be saved by officials of these organisations in their daily endeavour to deal and keep up with the demanding workload required. This is as a consequence of the ever more challenging regulatory procedures as a result of increased supervisory oversight,” the Association said.

The Association’s delegation also expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the Gozo Ministry’s assistance to Gozitan VOs/NGO during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The delegation was made up of Saviour Grech, Adrian Formosa, Paul Zammit and Joseph Zammit, respectively President, Vice-President, Assistant Secretary and PRO of the Association.

As an ‘umbrella organisation’ set up in 2003, the Association said that it has been proudly representing the interests of the Gozo non-governmental and voluntary sector at both local and national level.
