Regeneration project to start on Pjazza Santa Margerita in Sannat

As the work in St Francis Square is almost completed, a project for the regeneration of Pjazza Santa Margerita in Sannat will soon get underway.

This was announced by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, who explained that the Sannat project, which is 4,000 square metres, will involve new pavements, the introduction of storm water culverts, and the replacement of water, electricity and drainage services

He added that the Ministry will continue to invest in new and modern infrastructure so that the square offers open spaces for locals and tourists who visit. Pedestrian areas will also be increased so that they can be enjoyed by the public, the Minister said.

Mayor of Sannat Philip Vella said that the Council had consulted with with residents and stakeholders on this project to achieve what is best for the needs of Sannat residents.

The paving in the square will consist of red travertine the parvis, travertine nocce, around where the residents live, porfido reddish/blue grey and green, and lava slabs. There will also be new lighting installed including on Triq Sannat and on the crossroads of Triq Sannat and the square.
