Gozitan Nationalist MPs, in a statement today, said that they are concerned about the new progress of Covid-19 and its impact on Gozo, adding that this concern is reflected within the community.
“While the community was returning to normal, we have now suddenly found that the virus is returning.” The Nationalist MPs said that “this means problems for Gozitans not only regarding their health, but also for their livelihoods which is already threatened by the hit taken in the tourism industry on which Gozo depends.”
Given these uncertainties, Gozitan Nationalist deputies said that they have made a formal request to chairperson Dr Justyne Caruana to convene the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Gozo Affairs as soon as possible to discuss this, and possibly identify solutions.
The statement was signed by Chris Said, Frederick Azzopardi and Kevin Cutajar.
