Health Authorities have advised that 46 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, with 48 recoveries.

The authorities added that once again, today’s cases are “still being investigated” and information on some of these is expected tomorrow.

2,185 swab tests were taken during this time period, with 179,703 having been taken since the start.

There are now 664 active cases, with 1,751 cases in total. 1,077 have recovered and there have been 10 deaths.

From yesterday’s 38 cases, health authorities said that 6 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were direct contacts of known cases, 5 were work colleagues of positive cases, 4 cases are imported and 2 are contacts from social gatherings. No details have been provided on the other 19 cases.

As of today’s date, not including today’s new cases, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has said that for Malta, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 120.1 It is showing the total number of cases as 1,705. This places Malta in second position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 183.1, Luxembourg is third with 97.1

The EC DC noted that, “the Covid-19 cases reported for Malta do not include positive migrant cases who have disembarked in Malta and have been quarantined upon arrival.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
