Health authorities have advised that there have been 15 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, with 69 recoveries, today’s new cases are still being investigated.

From yesterday’s 27 cases, health authorities said that 5 were family members of previously known cases, 1 was a direct contact of a known case and 4 were work colleagues of positive cases and 2 were contacts from social gatherings. No details have been provided on the other 15 cases.

1,909 swab tests were taken during this time period, with 188,553 having been taken since the start.

There are now 538 active cases, with 1,862 cases in total. 1,313 have recovered and there have been 11 deaths.

As of today at 10am, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has said that for Malta, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 101.5. It is showing the total number of cases as 1,847. Malta is still in second position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 205.5.

The ECDC noted that, “the Covid-19 cases reported for Malta do not include positive migrant cases who have disembarked in Malta and have been quarantined upon arrival.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
