There have been 25 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, with 26 recoveries, health authorities advised that once again, today’s new cases are still being investigated.

From yesterday’s 30 cases, authorities said that 10 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were work colleagues of positive cases, 1 from a gathering and 4 were direct contacts of positives cases. No details were given for the remaining 13 cases.

1,551 swab tests were taken during this time period, once again a much lower number taken than has been over the past days, with 202,137 having been taken since the start.

There are now 398 active cases, with 2,039 cases in total. 1,627 have recovered and there have been 14 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control up to 10am this morning is showing that for Malta, but not including today’s figures the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 88.5 with the number of cases as 1,909. Malta is now in fourth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 240.6, followed by France with 118.9 and then Croatia with 94.2.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
