37 new Covid-19 cases recorded in past 24-hours, with 63 recoveries37 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 63 recoveries, health authorities advised that once again, today’s new cases are still being investigated.

From yesterday’s 22 cases, authorities said that 2 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were work colleagues of positive cases, 2 from social gatherings, 3 were direct contacts of positives cases and 2 cases were traced to a body building competition event. No details were given for the remaining 11 cases.

1,640 swab tests were taken during this time period, with 203,777 having been taken since the start.

There are now 372 active cases, with 2,076 cases in total. 1,690 have recovered and there have been 14 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control as of 12.30pm today had not updated their figures, so still showing that for Malta, but not including today’s figures the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 88.5 with the number of cases as 1,909. Malta is now in fourth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 240.6, followed by France with 118.9 and then Croatia with 94.2.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
