23 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 39 recoveries, health authorities advised that once again, today’s new cases are still being investigated.

There were only 1,364 swab tests taken and which will have also included re-tests, with 205,141 having been taken since the start.

From yesterday’s 37 cases, authorities said that 3 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were work colleagues of positive cases, 2 were direct contacts of positives cases and 2 cases from the body building competition event cluster. No details were given for the other outstanding 28 cases.

There are now 356 active cases, with 2,099 cases in total. 1,729 have recovered and there have been 14 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control is showing up to 10am, but not including today’s figures, that for Malta the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 81.4 with the number of cases as 2,014. Malta is now in fifth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 240.6, followed by France with 122.2, Croatia with 93.0, Romania with 84.9.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
