A direct public transport route – X300 – between Malta and Gozo has been launched by Minister for Transport Ian Borg, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, Transport Malta and Tallinja.
This new direct route will be connecting the Terminal in Cirkewwa with the University, Mater Dei Hospital, G.F. Abela Junior College and Valletta, and only stop at these points.
Minister Ian Borg, speaking at the launch, expressed his pleasure that this new initiative will be facilitating the lives of around 4,000 Gozitan workers and more than 1,000 students.
“We are committed to continuing to improve the quality of life of every citizen,” he added.
Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri remarked that “this is an important step in reducing the delay for Gozitans arriving at their place of work or at educational institutions.”
He added that, “through the X300, we will solve part of the connectivity problem for Gozitans.”
The Gozo Minister stressed that together with Minister Ian Borg, #2they will continue working to improve connectivity, both through fast ferries, as well as through the Malta-Gozo Tunnel project.”
The schedule for this new route will be synchronised with the Gozo Channel ferry schedule, and will operate only at the Cirkewwa, Skate Park (Mater Dei Hospital and University), Kullegg (Junior College students) and Valletta Terminus stops, so users can travel from one end of the route to the other in around 60 minutes.
The route will start operating from Monday to Friday from 6.00am to 6.45pm from October, with four dedicated 12-metre vehicles introduced to the service in 2020, which include free Wi-Fi and USB Charging Ports.
