45 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 32 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

5 migrants residing in closed centres also tested positive during the last 24 hours, authorities said.

From yesterday’s 32 cases, authorities said that 8 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were direct contacts of other positive cases, 1 was from the St Joseph Home cluster, 4 were work colleagues of previously know cases and 2 were from social gatherings with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 15 cases.

There were 1,783 swab tests taken, with 233,231 having been taken since the start.

There are now 676 active cases, with 2,776 cases in total. 2,079 have recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – has not as yet been updated and is showing for Malta the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 125.4 with the number of cases as 2,634, with 17 deaths. Malta is in fifth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 300.5, followed by Czechia with 193.0, France with 185.8, Luxembourg 140.7, followed by Malta.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
