42 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 60 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

From yesterday’s 38 cases, authorities said that 11 were family members of previously known cases, 3 were direct contacts other positive cases, 2 were from the St Joseph Home cluster, 5 were work colleagues of previously know cases. 1 case was from social gathering with other positive cases, 2 cases from the Casa Antonia cluster and 1 case was imported. Details were not given for the other outstanding 13 cases.

There were 2,444 swab tests taken, with 238.084 having been taken since the start.

There are now 658 active cases, with 2,856 cases in total. 2,173 have recovered and there have been 25 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing for Malta, not including today’s figures, that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 144.7 with the number of cases at 2,814 as well as showing 23 deaths. Malta is in fifth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 314.8, followed by Czechia with 218.6, France with 197.8, Luxembourg 169.7, followed by Malta.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
