42 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 18 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

From yesterday’s 42 cases, authorities said that 13 were family members of previously known cases, 3 were direct contacts other positive cases, 2 were work colleagues of previously know cases and 3 cases were from social gathering with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 21 cases.

There were 2,303 swab tests taken, with 240,387 having been taken since the start.

There are now 680 active cases, with 2,898 cases in total. 2,191 have recovered and there have been 27 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing for Malta, not including today’s figures, that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 140.6 with the number of cases at 2,857 as well as showing 25 deaths. Malta is in fifth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 320.0, followed by Czechia with 229.4, France with 204.5, Luxembourg 173.8, followed by Malta.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
