Health authorities have advised that 23 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past 24-hours, and 78 recoveries. It said that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

There are now 462 active cases, making it over 3,058 cases in total, 2,562 have recovered and there have been 34 deaths, the Ministry said.

From yesterday’s 29 cases, authorities said that 7 were family members of previously known cases, 2 cases were direct contacts of previously known cases and 1 was from the St Joseph Home cluster, 2 were imported, 1 was a contact of a positive work colleague, 1 case from Paceville cluster and 3 related to social gatherings with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 12 cases.

There were 2,211 swab tests taken, with 253,983 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing for Malta that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 121.6 with the number of cases showing at 3,006 and 32 deaths. Malta is in tenth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 329.2.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
