The Munxar Local Council has welcomed the news that the application for appeal in connection with proposed manure clamp in Zghawri Street, Munxar, has been withdrawn, meaning the case is now closed, this follows a saga which started more than two years ago.
The Local Council in a statement, said that it is “proud of the way it managed to handle the matter, even with the strong arguments put forward in order to safeguard the locality of Munxar and its residents.”
The Local Council thanked all the professionals who have assisted in this case. However, it said, “the biggest appreciation goes towards the residents of Munxar who took concrete direct action and have supported the Local Council all the way.”
The Planning Authority rejected the application for the manure clamp in November 2018. The Council had argued that the project would lead to the total destruction of this tranquil locality and the quality of life of its residents.
In July last year, the Local Council reaffirmed its position against the application which at the time was under appeal and for which the PA had received hundreds of objections.
The Munxar Local Council concluded by saying that it will “remain vigilant in view of any possible applications which are detrimental to the locality in order to safeguard the interest of the locality and its residents.”
