Primary HealthCare advised the public that due to industrial actions by the MUMN, the seasonal flu vaccination service may be interrupted in a number of localities across Gozo and Malta.
The MUMN had issued directives to nursing staff not to administer the vaccine, because of an outstanding dispute with the Government over meal allowances and leave.
In a statement it said that, “once the actions by the MUMN are withdrawn the schedule as previously notified will continue.
Primary HealthCare apologised for any inconvenience and called on everyone to follow the Health Department’s instructions, including frequent hand washing, social distance and use of the mask.
Health Minister Chris Fearne, said said week that the vaccine will be given free of charge and urged the public to take the seasonal vaccine this year.
This sounds like double standards by the MUMN ,can anyone tell me what is more important the dispute – when we know that seasonal flu jabs are important to mainly senior citizens, it sounds as if money yet again is taken priority in people’s health above all else.
We the elderly and vulnerable are put on the front line. It is like some wars where they put innocent civilians and kids on the line if fire to make a statement. The future will talk about the way MUMN used to dispute with government.
