Gozitan Nationalist MP Frederick Azzopardi passes away at the age of 71

The Nationalist Party has paid tribute to the memory of Gozitan MP Frederick Azzopardi who passed away on Saturday aged 71.

In a statement late on Saturday night, the PN said that Frederick Azzopardi had served in many positions, including in the Victoria Gozo Local Council as Deputy Mayor, as a Parliamentary Deputy on behalf of the PN in a number of legislators, and most recently as a Deputy Whip of the Parliamentary Group.

Azzopardi was elected to Parliament as an MP in the general election of 1998.

The Nationalist Party expressed its condolences to his family, relatives and friends at this very difficult time.

“Frederick Azzopardi will be remembered as a great gentleman,” the PN said.

Speaker of the House Anglu Farrugia, in a statement on behalf of himself and all Members and staff of the House of Representatives, also paid tribute to the memory of Frederick Azzpoardi, saying that he had always shown respect in the way he had acted and when he took the opportunity to address the House.

The Speaker conveyed his condolences to the members of the Azzopardi family at this very difficult time.
