A second death from Covid-19 has been announced on Tuesday, the Health Ministry has said that 88-year old woman died earlier today, the 55th victim of the virus.

In a statement, the Ministry said that the woman was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on the 20th of October and admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on the 21st, where she continued to be treated until she passed away earlier today.

The Ministry said that the woman “suffered from another chronic illness.”

The Health Ministry, while offering its condolences to the patient’s family, once again reiterated its appeal for the public to continue to follow the public health guidelines, including frequent hand washing, social distancing and wearing a mask.
