The existing ice machine is being replaced at the Xewkija cold stores with a new and more efficient type. These cold stores are used 24/7 by fishermen to store their catch.

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, during a visit to the stores, explained that this year the Ministry has invested in a change to some of the equipment, among them is the ice storage system.

He added that other equipment used to cool the cold rooms will also be modernised and changed to a more energy efficient one.
