The 10th Anniversary of the euro is being commemorated by MaltaPost p.lc. with an issue of a commemorative stamp. The stamp is to be issued on Thursday, the 30th of April 2009.
The stamp reproduces a replica image of the new 2-euro coin, issued in January 2009 which celebrates ten years of economic and monetary union (EMU). The design, which symbolises the euro as the latest step in the long history of European economic integration, was created by G. Stamatopoulos.
The stamp, designed by Edward D. Pirotta, has a face value of Euro 2.00. The stamp is 35.0 mm x 35.0 mm in size, with a perforation of 14.28 x 14.28 (comb). The stamp is printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper by Printex Limited and is available in sheets of ten.
This stamp is obtainable as a First Day cover, in mint or cancelled format, and as a Souvenir Folder or Presentation Pack, from all MaltaPost retail branches in Malta and Gozo, the MaltaPost mobile Unit and the Philatelic Bureau (tel. 25961747, email “mailto:philately@maltapost.com”>philately@maltapost.com, postal address: 305 Triq Hal-Qormi, Marsa, MTP1001).
